Staying Active During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Staying Active during the Covid-19 Pandemic:

This pandemic has altered lives across the world. It has impacted how we work, interact, and live. In this season, many of us are working from home, attending school online or doing other activities fully remote. Because of this, we have seen difficulties in staying active and a decline in physical health. Ultimately, a decline in physical activity can directly impact our mental health. When we stay active and engage in physical activity, we can improve our mental health and decrease our chances of becoming overwhelmed by the anxiety and stresses of the pandemic.

Benefits of Physical Activity can include:

*Release of chemicals into your brain that boost your self-esteem and make you feel good

*Increased concentration, focus and energy

*Improved sleep

*Decreased tension, stress and mental fatigue

While it may feel overwhelming and difficult to stay active, finding a routine that works for you can greatly improve your overall total wellness. Below are a few creative ways you can stay active!

Ways to Stay Active:

*Practice Yoga, Tai Chi, HIIT, Pilates, or Kickboxing workouts in your home or even outside (there are numerous YouTube videos you can follow along with)

*Take walks or run outside

*Get creative and use books, water jugs, etc. as weights and practice weight training from home

*Attend a hip-hop class, yoga class or go to a gym following the pandemic guidelines

*Go hiking

*Take stretch breaks throughout your work day

*Play your favorite music and dance

You are capable. You are strong. You can create a new normal and a healthy active lifestyle that works for you!
